Series

Daughters

The series offers a glimpse into the lives and dilemmas of growing girls and the way their mothers handle these challenges. Mothers and daughters from different age groups filmed each other for three months. The series was produced by Wefilm and directed by Anne-Marieke Graafmans. "The main characters also do the camerawork themselves," says Marnix Laurs, Director of Content at KPN. "This makes the series unique. I am incredibly proud of the beautiful final result." "Dochters is an innovative way to depict mother-daughter relationships. This approach was chosen because no one is closer to family life than they are," says Bas Welling, co-founder of Wefilm. The series follows, for example, Emma (12) who is about to start high school. It also includes the teenage struggles between Aisha (17) and her mother Marleen, as well as the 19-year-old Tara who is about to move into her own apartment. These are both small and big stories with funny and sad moments, all portrayed in revealing double portraits.
